The difference between a Psychic and a Medium. With the advent of science and technology, it has become quite simple for man to be in control over his life. Not only has recent technological advances given us the power to control various forces which were hitherto deemed impossible, but they have also made it possible for us to access a wide variety of information that can reduce the degree of uncertainty of one’s life. But in this scenario as well, there is one thing that we cannot gauge regardless of any scientific and technological advancement, it is our future.
Based on common human tendency, we are always curious about the unknown and the unseen. Hence, many people delve into the science of the paranormal and astrological predictions that can enable one to take a sneak peak at the future and have an idea about the probable events about their future.
In keeping this growing trend, one can gauge the reason behind the increased popularity of the various methods of prediction like Ouija boards, Tarot cards, Astrological charts etc. Although they are extremely popular, sometimes it becomes difficult to fathom if these methods are instruments used by Mediums, Psychics or both. Here it is important to understand the difference between a Psychic and a Medium.
A Psychic typically refers to a person who is endowed with varied types of supernatural powers for instance the capacity to gauge and predict the future based on their ability to perform crystal gazing , reading the decks of a tarot card, or even have the ability to move objects without touching them , which is known as telekinesis. A major difference between a Psychic and a Medium is the fact that Psychics consider themselves as clairvoyants or people who have the ability to connect to the present, future and past of a person. Mediums on the other hand are different as they have the capacity to communicate with the deceased.
Some of the famous Mediums like Allison DuBois, even have regular shows telecast on television and are popular and considered excellent in their craft. According to some critics, Mediums have a higher degree of credibility in comparison to the Psychics, owing to the fact that they generally give more accurate predictions after communicating with the deceased relatives of their clients. They also enjoy more popularity owing to the fact that they receive a lot of positive feedback from the press and other forms of media.
Finally another important difference between a Psychic and a Medium is the difference in the tools of their respective trade that are used by them. For instance the Psychics use the stereotypical tools like palm readings, astrological charts, tarot cards, playing card readings etc. for their predictions. Moreover, they do not have any standard set of practices and can adopt multiple methods in unison in order to predict the future. Mediums, on the other hand, generally communicate the information which is an outcome of their interactions with the paranormal entities through images or symbols, as provided by the spirits. Moreover, considering the fact that they generally interact with the deceased relatives of their client, their readings have an element of personal touch that might not always be present in the predictions of the Psychics.
Therefore, it can be safely concluded that although the scope and the activities of a Psychic and a Medium may seem to be similar, in reality, there is a significant level of difference which distinguishes one from the other.
